Days in Affliction

By Clarion Oyeronke.

Agony in the midst of distress;

Sorrow amid sadness,

Lying down for the brave fighter

Days in affliction with no helper.

Loneliness as the befitting cloak,

Watching the ticktock of the clock,

Sinking in the sea of oppression,

Days in affliction with no option.

Never Slumber, Never Sleep,

Afflicted in the summer peep.

In riches, it gathers eternal sadness.

In poverty, it gathers hopelessness.

The innocent one laments

With shouts and tears of no end,

Losing the day of optimism,

In the ocean of pessimism.
